Music, Reading, and Cooking!

Friday night we had tickets to see an electronic artist, RJD2, at the Bluebird Theater in Denver with our friends Christine & Lindsay. The show sold out right when we got to the box office, so we were grateful we already had tickets! Being an singer-songwriter music kinda gal, electronic music isn't my kind of music, but I appreciate his sound and love checking out a live show on a Friday night. I was so impressed by his set-up on stage and how he worked with all the equipment he had!

Saturday we spent the morning reading in the living room. I love that we are both so into the 'The Hunger Games' books! We've never spent mornings laying around enjoying a book together. Ella was getting pretty annoyed at our lazy Saturday morning, so we took her to the park across the street to run free in the snow - her favorite :o) That afternoon/evening was a marathon cooking day. I couldn't believe how much we made! At one point Andy commented that almost every pot and pan we owned was either in the sink or dish drainer! We were planning a Super Bowl party, so we had a bunch of food we wanted to prep for that. On our cooking list:
  • Stuffed Mushrooms
  • Chex Mix (double batch!)
  • Gluten-free Bread
  • Sour Mix for drinks
  • Chili
  • Guacamole
  • Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies
  • Puppy Chow

Following our time in the kitchen we watched, you guessed it, 'The Hunger Games' on Netflix!

About five seconds after this photo was snapped, Ella took off chasing that bus. She hates buses. We have no idea why.

Can you believe all the lemons and limes it took to make a batch of sour mix? It's totally worth it.

Almost all the burners in use! We are in full force cooking.

On Sunday, we still had more cooking to do - can you believe it (Andy couldn't!)? I was able to sneak in a morning yoga class, along with the rest of the neighborhood! The owner of the studio realized that folks weren't going to be practicing yoga when the Denver Broncos were in the Super Bowl, so she cancelled the afternoon classes and I'm quite sure everyone was at the class I attended! It was packed, but such a good workout, so it was worth it. That afternoon we had five friends over to watch the game at our place. I would have taken photos to post, but it was such a somber event, it just didn't quite seem right. Regardless of the outcome of the game, we had great food, drinks, and company.

I hope you had a good weekend What did you do to celebrate the Super Bowl?

Right? We were definitely stepping on one another's toes! Though, you never did get to see my apartment in Madison; that kitchen makes this one fit for a king!
