4th of July Retreat to the Mountains

We went camping with our friends Christine and Lindsay and their kids over the 4th of July weekend.

We headed out to Buffalo Creek, about a 90 minute drive southwest of Denver, for a super remote mountain and tree-filled getaway.

The kids found so many different ways to entertain themselves including: burning sticks in the fire, adding kindling to the fire, hanging out in our laps, mixing drinks (we had no idea what was in them, but were certain there was kerosene, and didn't drink them), being goofy. 

While the kids had a blast entertaining themselves, so did the adults! We introduced Lindsay to cooking over an open fire for the first time, caught up on life, talked about life (as you can do only with a campfire), and drank some beers.
