Friday Photos [6.27.14]

Here are some photos from Andy & my week:

Jen and her cute little pup Quincy on Monday. It's love. Here's a pic of me and her other dog, Rosie.

My new MN home shirt from Jen. Isn't it perfect?

My home office for the week. Nice nature views here!

At happy hour with my lovely ma and pa on Tuesday.

I hung out with my friend Ash and her baby on Wednesday, as well as her dog Keith. Here he is demonstrating his favorite sitting spot.

Out canoeing with mom and dad Wednesday. Mom taking the lead as the powerhouse.

Hello Minneapolis skyline :o) I've missed you.

Canoeing with a bag over my cast like the cool kids.

Having some beers with my folks at Fulton Thursday night!

Andy's here! My Dangerous Man at Dangerous Man Brewing.

I've been back in Minneapolis for the week, as you can see. And it's been great! I sure do miss this town. Here's one more photo for you. My folks and me :o) I've missed them (way more than I've missed the skyline).

Friday Photos [6.20.14]

Here are some photos from Andy & my week:

Our friend Kara got us a motorized wine opener which is not only awesome, but solves the problem of how a temporarily one-armed (and independent!) lady opens a bottle of wine!

Walking my monster.

On camps during orientation at JWU - Future Wildcats enter here :o)

Coffee with my friend Kristal Tuesday morning.

I took Andy out for a Tuesday lunch at a New Mexican place in Denver. We started with beer & sangria.

So we sat outside at lunch Tuesday. Without sunscreen, or knowledge that the table umbrella didn't cover my back.

I had jury summons Wednesday. I wasn't chosen, but the views were lovely.

Weather in Denver can be so weird! Andy at Station 26 Wednesday with the blue skies and sun...

...and just turn to the other side and we have some overcast weather...

...so when Lauren and Amy arrived, we moved inside for a beer...or two...

I hope you had a great week!

Let's Spend the Weekend at Home

So that happened. Friday afternoon I went in to see an Orthopedic specialist and, like in Urgent Care, she couldn't tell if my hand was broken or not (I guess that's common with the carpal bones), but said we should be extra cautious to avoid future surgery. So she casted me up. Given the two options of a current cast or a future surgery, yea, let's go ahead and get that cast on stat. Plus, the cast is kinda purple! My favorite!

In addition to my hand being temporarily crippled, Andy threw his back out and now his back is temporarily crippled, too! We're a super fun couple, guys. Come hang out with us. Due to our body injuries, we decided to stay in the entire weekend starting with Friday where we (and I say "we" in the global sense as I am not able to wield a knife) cooked an awesome mashed potatoes, summer squash, and walnut burger dinner, and watched a movie. I needed to do some prep work to make sure everything's in order for my trip back home next week and that nothing's left til the last minute. Andy was in the mood for an action movie, so it was perfect for him to be able to watch "Jack Ryan" and me to be able to sit in front of the TV completely distracted and not be upset about missing the movie.

Cheers to us, cuz, why not?

I have some work to sort through. And, apparently, two wines and two beers.

Every summer we have a ton of moths inside, which Ella loves to eat...

...and that is a habit we encourage because a) we then don't have to kill the moths ourselves, and...

...b) it's super entertaining to watch Ella chase them around! Her accuracy is abysmal as well as adorable.

I mean it's basically multitasking: function + entertainment.

Saturday during the day was super boring: Target, Andy catching-up on work, me preparing for the trip back home, laundry. I did catch-up on the phone with my friend from home, Jill, who I hadn't spoken to in years. And that was wonderful. Andy and I had an awesome dinner planned that night: Fried mashed potato balls. Yup, yum, I know. Andy had made mashed potatoes the night before and we decided to do something fun and delicious with the leftovers. We figured we couldn't really keep this to ourselves, so we invited our friend Shelly over. And the results we awesome! I mean, mashed potatoes are obviously so good, but then fry them?? We had also rented "Her" to watch which usually is a two hour movie, but Shelly and Andy kept pausing it to talk so it took FOUR HOURS! I fell asleep (three times) and will need to re-watch it. I was told it was good.

A butterfly at one of my favorite front yard gardens while walking Ella.

Andy has to shuffle cards for me :o(

This is when Shelly realized I was going to skunk her in cribbage.

Sunday during the day was another lazyish day: reading, video gaming, me catching-up on work, continuing getting ready for my trip home, running to Office Depot and Sam's Club. Like Saturday, though, I had some catch-up time with my Madison friend, Jen, who's in Minneapolis now. We did our usual google hangout (it's like Skype) Sunday morning. Funny story: Jen and I actually had a google hangout date last week at 9:00am, and around 1:00pm when I saw she was calling my phone I realized I totally forgot! So I pick-up her call and immediately start apologizing profusely, only to realize she was doing the same thing because we BOTH forgot our scheduled hangout! Whoops :o) In the evening, Andy again made me dinner, or shall I say brinner? (Breakfast for dinner!) And I called my dad, of course, to wish him a happy father's day and chatted with my folks until almost midnight their time - whoops!

Ella and her Andy :o)

We went of Office Depot to find Andy a new office chair. I loved this one and wanted to take a nap in it. Or lead a meeting from it.

The best thing about brinner is that it's socially acceptable to enjoy it with a beer.

I hope you had a great weekend, and remembered to wish your dad a happy father's day!

Friday Photos [6.13.14]

Here are some photos from Andy & my week:

I may be rocking an awkward brace, but I can still have fun!

With a deal like that, who could say no?

Let's do this and brew some beers! At Black Shirt brewery in Denver. (I did not help make beers; just helped drink beers.)

I took a sick day Monday to go to the clinic and have my wrist x-rayed. The rest of the day, I laid around watching "Orange is the New Black".

Look! I can pour salt! It's the little things, folks. But, really, my arm is getting tired so can you please take the picture?

Tuesday night homemade pizzas. They were so much more delicious than they look!

Andy and I made some from-scratch falafel on Wednesday night.

Snapchatting Shelly some bourbon drinks Wednesday.

Andy's the kid and dog whisperer! Hanging out with our friend Lindsay's kids Thursday night.

Lindsay's daughter was super pumped at Breanna's toys, aka the wine corks.

Aren't these flowers from Christine and Lindsay just lovely? Thanks, ladies :o)

I don't know about the rest of you, but this week has flown by! Monday-Wednesday were lazy days at home for us (Andy's favorite!) and it's shaping up to look like that will be the plan for this weekend, too! Have a great weekend, and for those of you superstitious folks, stay safe (?) this Friday the 13th!

A Painful Weekend

I didn't take a lot of photos this weekend, guys. The main reason is because I fractured or sprained (they weren't totally sure at the Urgent Care, so for the sake of getting more pity, I'm going with the former) my wrist over the weekend. Don't worry - I'm ok. Just super pathetic-looking. But more on that later.

Friday...well, Friday wasn't an awesome day. The reality of both Andy and me being home ALL DAY together this summer as I'm not traveling for work really set-in and we were getting on each other's nerves a bit. To try and cool the tension, I took off for an afternoon movie (yay for Friday summer hours at work!) and we just kicked back in the evening when I got back, basically trying to not piss each other off any more than we already were. We walked to the liquor store, where they were hosting one of our favorite breweries for a tasting. And then rented "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" (awesome movie with an even more awesome soundtrack!) and cooked up some nachos for dinner. It was the perfect kind of low-key lazy night together that we needed after a week of constant hanging out!

Saturday I was ready to get out and be social! We met our friends Lauren and Amy at a restaurant near Amy's apartment. This place has some of the best fries in town and you know how I feel about fries! So big news in Breanna's world: I got a new cell phone! Those of you who know me know that I've been rocking Old Flippie since 2008. Well, I put on my big girl pants this week and ordered me a smart phone! I don't love it as much as my friends have led me to believe I would, but I'm a nostalgic gal and really feel sad that after almost six years together, I ditched my trusted old partner. But I do love a lot about my new phone. Lauren and Amy were especially thrilled for me after ridiculing me for the last year. Lauren and I spent much of our fries & beer time together sending inappropriate texts and Snapchats to friends from college, which only increased my love for my new phone (and Lauren)!

RIP, my friend.

How quickly their moods change!

You all should send me your snapchat ID.

Seriously.

So then I crashed my bike. Andy and I were biking through City Park in Denver, and since there's been a lot of construction in the park over the last year or so, I decided to take a new route that I thought was done being constructed. Scenic and adventurous, right? So here's another thing that's important to know: My bike frame is too big for me. Not sure how I ended up buying a bike not the proper size for me, but I did, and when I stop at a stop sign or something, my feet don't quite reach the ground. Dangerous and problematic, I know. Anyway, I come up on my new route through City Park only to discover last minute that the road I'm about to cruise down is not done being constructed, so I slam on the brakes and try to put my feet down to help stop, but I think we can all imagine how and why that plan didn't work out. Plan B was to use my right hand to stop my body from falling to the pavement. And there we go with the fractured wrist. Sigh.

Sunday morning I wake up hoping that it was just a little bruise. Nope. It's not swollen at all though, so I take it as a good sign and Andy and I go get me a brace at Target to stabilize my wrist. Sunday was our friend, Shelly's, birthday and since her husband is out of town for most of the summer, we decided to take her out for her birthday. It was an awesome day hanging out, having fun, and celebrating our friend with brunch, beers, and pizza! She seemed to have a really nice day. And I managed to make it through the day without too much pain, though the mimosas and beers probably played a part in that.

My lovely brace for the day. It's since been upgraded.

Writing with your non-dominant hand is hard.

I hope you enjoyed this post cuz it was weird and difficult to write it with a splint on my right hand! I hope you had a boring and uneventful weekend without any breaks or bruises!
