Let's Spend the Weekend at Home

So that happened. Friday afternoon I went in to see an Orthopedic specialist and, like in Urgent Care, she couldn't tell if my hand was broken or not (I guess that's common with the carpal bones), but said we should be extra cautious to avoid future surgery. So she casted me up. Given the two options of a current cast or a future surgery, yea, let's go ahead and get that cast on stat. Plus, the cast is kinda purple! My favorite!

In addition to my hand being temporarily crippled, Andy threw his back out and now his back is temporarily crippled, too! We're a super fun couple, guys. Come hang out with us. Due to our body injuries, we decided to stay in the entire weekend starting with Friday where we (and I say "we" in the global sense as I am not able to wield a knife) cooked an awesome mashed potatoes, summer squash, and walnut burger dinner, and watched a movie. I needed to do some prep work to make sure everything's in order for my trip back home next week and that nothing's left til the last minute. Andy was in the mood for an action movie, so it was perfect for him to be able to watch "Jack Ryan" and me to be able to sit in front of the TV completely distracted and not be upset about missing the movie.

Cheers to us, cuz, why not?

I have some work to sort through. And, apparently, two wines and two beers.

Every summer we have a ton of moths inside, which Ella loves to eat...

...and that is a habit we encourage because a) we then don't have to kill the moths ourselves, and...

...b) it's super entertaining to watch Ella chase them around! Her accuracy is abysmal as well as adorable.

I mean it's basically multitasking: function + entertainment.

Saturday during the day was super boring: Target, Andy catching-up on work, me preparing for the trip back home, laundry. I did catch-up on the phone with my friend from home, Jill, who I hadn't spoken to in years. And that was wonderful. Andy and I had an awesome dinner planned that night: Fried mashed potato balls. Yup, yum, I know. Andy had made mashed potatoes the night before and we decided to do something fun and delicious with the leftovers. We figured we couldn't really keep this to ourselves, so we invited our friend Shelly over. And the results we awesome! I mean, mashed potatoes are obviously so good, but then fry them?? We had also rented "Her" to watch which usually is a two hour movie, but Shelly and Andy kept pausing it to talk so it took FOUR HOURS! I fell asleep (three times) and will need to re-watch it. I was told it was good.

A butterfly at one of my favorite front yard gardens while walking Ella.

Andy has to shuffle cards for me :o(

This is when Shelly realized I was going to skunk her in cribbage.

Sunday during the day was another lazyish day: reading, video gaming, me catching-up on work, continuing getting ready for my trip home, running to Office Depot and Sam's Club. Like Saturday, though, I had some catch-up time with my Madison friend, Jen, who's in Minneapolis now. We did our usual google hangout (it's like Skype) Sunday morning. Funny story: Jen and I actually had a google hangout date last week at 9:00am, and around 1:00pm when I saw she was calling my phone I realized I totally forgot! So I pick-up her call and immediately start apologizing profusely, only to realize she was doing the same thing because we BOTH forgot our scheduled hangout! Whoops :o) In the evening, Andy again made me dinner, or shall I say brinner? (Breakfast for dinner!) And I called my dad, of course, to wish him a happy father's day and chatted with my folks until almost midnight their time - whoops!

Ella and her Andy :o)

We went of Office Depot to find Andy a new office chair. I loved this one and wanted to take a nap in it. Or lead a meeting from it.

The best thing about brinner is that it's socially acceptable to enjoy it with a beer.

I hope you had a great weekend, and remembered to wish your dad a happy father's day!
